Yücel Doğruel is head of the Neurosurgery Clinic at the University of Health Sciences, Tepecik Training and Research Hospital in İzmir, Türkiye. His clinical and academic work centres on cranial surgery: skull base tumours, cerebrovascular disease, brain tumours and epilepsy surgery. Two lines of research underpin it: cadaveric microsurgical neuroanatomy and the translation of that anatomy into patient-specific three-dimensional models.

Images from his co-authored work have appeared on the covers of Brain Structure and Function (January 2023), the Journal of Neurosurgery (January 2024) and the Anatolian Journal of General Medical Research (August 2026).
